At Dohring Ahern, community involvement in Tampa has been viewed as an extension of professional responsibility. Accordingly, leadership roles and board participation have been maintained across nonprofit, civic, and professional organizations throughout the region. Through continued engagement, relationships have been strengthened, local initiatives have been supported, and informed perspectives have been contributed to the evolving Tampa Bay landscape. As a result, Dohring Ahern has remained actively aligned with the communities in which commercial real estate decisions are made and carried out.

Abbey Dohring Ahern Community Liaison

Abbey Ahern is deeply engaged in the Tampa community and has served in a wide range of civic, nonprofit, and professional leadership roles. She is a long-standing board member of the Tampa Downtown Partnership, where she has held multiple volunteer positions including Board of Governance Chairwoman, and Special Services District Committee Chair. She serves on the Governance Board of the Tampa Metropolitan Area YMCA, and the Advisory Board for Synovus/ Pinnacle Bank. Abbey spent over a decade of service as a mayoral appointed member of the Tampa Historic Streetcar Board of Directors, and led both the Downtown CRA CAC and the Channel District Community Redevelopment Agency’s Advisory Committees, all of which she remains attuned to.

She is an active member of the Visit Tampa Bay Advisory Board and CREW Tampa Bay, previously serving as a board member, committee chair, and frequent award recipient. Abbey is also the founder and past president of the Uptown Council/DRANA, a downtown business and property-owner association. Her extensive civic involvement reflects her commitment to strengthening Tampa’s urban core and thus supporting community development across the city.

Service has been provided at the highest level, as Chairwoman and Executive Committee member on the nonprofit board since 2019, while engagement dates back to 2005. Roles have included Chair, and Officer positions, supporting downtown economic vitality and long range planning efforts.

Board participation has been maintained on the governance board, serving 16 locations, supporting community health, youth development, and regional outreach initiatives.

Recently appointed to the Synovus Bank Tampa Bay Advisory Board, serving in an advisory capacity by sharing regional market expertise to support sound lending practices, risk evaluation, and confident loan decision making.

The role of Vice President has been held on the nonprofit board, where oversight has been provided for historic transit operations through a joint partnership with the City of Tampa and HART.

Membership has been held on the City CRA advisory board through appointment, where redevelopment strategy and district level planning initiatives have been reviewed and supported.

 

The organization was founded with service provided as President. Over time, the association transitioned into what is now known as DRANA, continuing neighborhood and business advocacy in the Uptown area, now referred to as Downtown River Arts District.

Service has been provided as a past board member and committee chair within the professional association, including leadership roles such as artLOUD chair, supporting advancement within the commercial real estate industry and achieving economic advancement through Arts and Culture.

Participation has been held on the Advisory board, contributing to tourism strategy and regional branding initiatives across Tampa Bay.

Chris Ahern

Chris Ahern Community Leadership

Chris Ahern is actively involved in Tampa’s civic and community landscape with a particular focus on historic preservation and neighborhood redevelopment. He serves on the Board of Directors for Friends of Tampa Union Station, supporting the stewardship and revitalization of one of Tampa’s most significant historic transportation landmarks.

Chris is also a member of the Tampa Heights Riverfront CRA Community Advisory Committee, where he contributes to planning and redevelopment efforts within one of the city’s most rapidly evolving urban neighborhoods. His engagement reflects a strong commitment to community advocacy, historic preservation, and thoughtful urban development within the Tampa Bay region.

Service has been provided as a Director on the nonprofit board, supporting historic preservation efforts and advocacy for Tampa Union Station.

Former membership. He was on the City CRA Citizens Advisory Committee since approximately 2023, where redevelopment initiatives and community input have been evaluated and advised upon.

Throughout the Tampa Bay area, involvement has been demonstrated through board service, advisory appointments, and long standing participation in organizations that influence economic development, historic preservation, tourism, and neighborhood advocacy.
